Chichester Close, Instow

Removing a non-descript house from the housing stock in favour of a highly sustainable, contemporary home.
brief
The current property has neutral architectural value and portrays a very non-descript style and appearance. The presence of the plot elevated above Instow framing the two vistas in either direction (down the Estuary and to the confluence of the river and ocean, flanked by Appledore and Braunton Burrows) incentivises it’s re-imagination into a home which not only maximises the coastal location but adds architectural value through high quality design and construction. The replacement will add a building with longevity, omitting the poor quality the current dwelling portrays, in terms of design and construction alike.
result
The design is unapologetically contemporary in-line with recent newly build coastal dwellings. The design has a style of modern-day architecture and does not attempt to take any stylistic influences from the variety of nearby buildings. There are a plethora of building styles (and ages) nearby and any attempt to adhere to one (or all) would be futile and realise a confused, ill-considered design which in fact truly answers to none.
